Activities without leaving Clifford Barton
There is lots to do, or not do at Clifford Barton and many families have a list of activities they want to do on holiday but find the kids are happy, make friends and don't want to leave. Here are some ideas:
Cycle up the track alongside the River Teign to chill out at the fantastically situated Fingle Bridge Inn with a pint and plate of cheesy chips.
If you need a bit more exercise, leave the bikes at the pub and carry on up the spectacular Teign Gorge to the National Trust's Castle Drogo for a cream tea.
Battle it out at snooker, table tennis or table football in the games room, whilst listening to your music on the bluetooth speakers. Budding young actors/actresses may like to put on a show on the stage.
around the lake and the 50 acres of private nature reserve that Clifford Barton is set in. Sit on one of the strategically placed benches and contemplate life, watch wildlife, sketch, read, whatever takes your fancy.
Encourage the kids to go and explore Clifford Barton by following the clues on our NEW letterbox trail.
Join Woodsman and craftsman Alasdair Kilpatrick and learn traditional green woodworking skills. Use a saw horse and pole lathe to create a coat hook, rolling pin, rounders bat, in fact anything round, or a beautiful piece of furniture for your home. A great experience for kids as well as adults.
relax and stay put
Or you could just chill in the garden, listen to bird song and watch the world go by.
Not to mention the deer, buzzards, badgers, sparrow hawks...
